I am who I am

"Be strong." It's a phrase people often use to encourage us to overcome challenges or to do something they believe is better for us. But do we really want to be strong and suppress what we truly feel, or should we take the time to be vulnerable, allowing ourselves to express and process those feelings?

Being strong doesn’t mean avoiding your emotions. In my life experiences, I’ve noticed that people around me often couldn't handle my vulnerability, preferring instead to interact with the strong version of me—the one who seems to have everything under control and shows less of how I truly feel.

People get overwhelmed when they have to deal with the emotions of others or face the unknown. But don’t let others shape your healing process with their discomfort at seeing you in what they perceive as a weak state. The reality is that you are strong for accepting how you feel and for treating yourself with kindness and understanding.

We are not here to please others. We are here to enjoy life and do good. True enjoyment comes when we are aligned with ourselves and our emotions. I know society often pressures us to conform, but you can choose to ignore that pressure and do what feels right for you.

I’ve seen the pressure that society and traditions put on some close friends of mine, and I’ve witnessed how hard it is for them to accept something they can't tolerate. This pressure might make those around them feel calm and happy because they don’t have to deal with the mess that standing up for oneself might cause. But living life as the underdog, constantly obeying society's and tradition's demands, is a horrible way to live. From this space of no self-love, you may find yourself feeling miserable and empty inside because the one thing you needed to take care of—yourself—you failed to do.

Society is not going to make you happy, and traditions won’t either. Don’t lose yourself trying to satisfy others. Don’t let them manipulate you into believing that all they care about is your happiness. You are the Queen/King of your own life and the master of your happiness. Always remember that.

Have a great day, everyone.
