Qi

I first met Qi in a shoe shop. I was walking down the street trying to find some tobacco, and a friend who was with me said he wanted to check out the shop. After coming up empty at the tobacco shop, we went inside. That's when I spotted a kitten. I was immediately smitten, saying, "Aww, she’s so cute!" But then the shop owner said, "Please take her out. She came in, and I hate cats. If she doesn’t go out, I’ll kill her." You can guess what I did next.

On the same day I got Qi, I received my Qigong teacher training certificate. And that’s how she got her name—Qi. Believe me, names reflect who we are, and Qi is an extraordinary cat. She loves nature, especially going to the desert, where she sleeps under the stars.

When she’s indoors, she spends her time in the garden, nestled between the trees. She embodies life force—she doesn’t eat from a plate but takes her food out with her claws. She even loves cucumber! We did a test with beef, fish, and cucumber, and she chose the green. She’s a beautiful cat with an amazing personality.

Qi only played with her sister, Vanilla. When Vanilla died—tragically killed by street dogs—Qi changed. She became more reserved, almost autistic, showing little interest in communicating. We respected her space and now feel happy whenever she comes near, not for cuddles, but just to meow or purr from a distance. Qi’s unique attitude and gentle presence take up a big chunk of my heart.

These past few days, Qi has been staying indoors, and it feels like a celebration just having her around. I love you, Qi.

Goodnight, everyone.
