Let it be, let it happen, and let it go

Did you ever ask yourself, before wishing to know what will happen next, what you would do if you found out the future wasn't good?

We often say, "I want to know what will happen," but we may not realize that we aren't always ready to handle that knowledge. Things unfold in our lives when we are mentally and emotionally prepared to receive them. Seeking information about the future may reveal things we can't process at the moment, just as digging into the past might bring up truths that could change us forever, with no turning back.

I had this thought today while standing in the kitchen, making my cup of coffee, thinking of my little boy. I wondered: What if I had known how he was going to die before it happened? How would I have handled waiting, watching it unfold, knowing I couldn't change it because it was his time to go? The same goes for everything in life—happiness and sadness, gain and loss, love and separation—all of it happens when we are ready to receive it.

The wisdom in not knowing is the key to a good, happy life. It teaches us to accept things as they come and to let go when the time arrives.

The element of surprise in life is profound. The unknown isn’t as scary if you don’t obsess over it, and not knowing is a blessing—it keeps us moving forward, experiencing life as it should be. With life come lessons, emotions to process, and resilience to build. And when we are ready for the next challenge, lesson, or experience, it will reveal itself to us. Then, we will be equipped to handle it, learning exactly what we need to learn.

Let it be, let it happen, and let it go. These three simple steps can make life so much better.

Goodnight, everyone.
