Reconciliation with self

In the last few days, I have been feeling a sense of ease. It came with the necessity of reconciling with myself and with others, forgiving what was, and allowing myself to feel the deep sorrow of moving forward with a heart still full of love for someone who was once ours, but is no longer.

Accepting that what happened happened, and that it couldn’t have been any other way—because if it could have, it would have been.

Resistance and hope don’t help much. Actually, they don’t help at all when they keep us fighting against reality. Sometimes our minds resist acceptance for as long as they can, until there comes a moment when the mind finally surrenders and understands.

And with all the sorrow we carry in our hearts, we stop fighting the outcome. We stop trying to change what is.

Reconciliation can happen within ourselves, but if we have the courage, it can also happen with others. Even when it makes us vulnerable. We put the ego down, acknowledge what was wrong from our side, and apologize for it—not to change the outcome, but because it is the truth we are ready to own.

That can feel scary, because we know that when we reach this agreement with reality, there is no fight left in us.

Exploring new possibilities is scary because we are leaving behind what was once familiar. But reconciling with our old wounds can liberate us from tremendous suffering—the suffering we sometimes choose to keep carrying because it has become familiar.

Yes, peace comes with a price. And it is priceless.

Goodbyes don’t mean erasing someone from our hearts or memories. Sometimes they simply mean: thank you.

Thank you for the lesson. Thank you for what you revealed in me. And thank you for showing me what I could no longer continue to live with.

I carry you in my heart, but it is time to move forward—with more understanding of myself, more compassion for what was, and openness to whatever comes next in my growth.

A few months ago, I would never have believed I would be writing this, or feeling this way. But life has its own ways of revealing itself to us—sometimes only when we are finally ready to see.

Good morning.

Much love 💚
